In a statement, the force said that a terrorist plot had been foiled to target unarmed citizens in a popular market in Baquba, adding that the matter was carried out through a pre-emptive operation that was carried out minutes before the bombing.

It explained that the operation resulted in the arrest of the terrorist carrying the explosive device in his possession.
