An official source in the Saudi Ministry of Interior said that the Saudi authorities are considering gradually reopening the kingdom for pilgrims to perform the blessed Umrah rituals.
According to the source, “The Saudi authorities will announce a plan to gradually re-permit the performance of Umrah, based on what is decided later in this regard independently, in light of the developments related to the Covid-19 pandemic,” indicating that “the complete lifting of the restrictions and permitting the opening of ports to cross all means of transport through the land, sea and air ports will be after January 2021.
The source added that the Kingdom requires that the entry of citizens of GCC countries and non-Saudis in accordance with the preventive health controls and procedures, and does not allow any person to enter until they submit evidence that they are free from the virus.
