Jurists have reported that a number of prisoners of conscience in the Jaw Central Prison had been denied the commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, despite having submitted an application as usual.

The detainees stated that their request was rejected on the pretext that they raised slogans such as “We are to die for the lovers of al-Hussein”. They were also threatened that if their voices are heard, they will be transferred to solitary confinement in batches, and they will be denied contact, forcing them to revive the event in a solo manner with repeated promises of punishment.

It is reported that prison administrations prevent detainees from practicing religious rituals, although this is a right they have guaranteed by all international constitutions and humanitarian norms
