London-based Husseiniyat al-Rasool al-Adham hosted the writer and politician Jawad Al-Attar in a symposium entitled “The Popular Movement in Iraq between Chaos and Legitimate Demands” in the presence of the Iraqi community there.
Al-Attar talked about the political, economic and service conditions in Iraq throughout the previous stages.
Al-Attar said, “We are between two groups of protesters, a majority that seeks reform and change through constitutional and democratic mechanisms and seeks to achieve economic demands through peaceful means, and an outsider minority seeking chaos by calling for the overthrow of the entire political process with the tendency to sabotage and arson.
Al-Attar called on the state to grasp the thin line that separates the protests of reform and chaos, through political reform by changing faces and tendencies to seek technocrats and competencies away from favoritism and partisanship. The rioters should be held accountable, and the public life must continue normally.
