The new UN envoy to Yemen: The effects of the war are getting more and more difficult daily

Swedish diplomat Hans Grundberg has concluded his first visit to Yemen since his appointment as Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General.
Grundberg’s office confirmed in a statement that it “discussed the deteriorating economic situation and the challenges that prevent the provision of basic services in Aden.”
The statement quoted that “the humanitarian and economic effects of the war are becoming more difficult with each passing day as the war has transformed daily life in Yemen into a struggle, and there is an urgent need to change course and work towards a political settlement that includes all, ends the conflict completely and allows Yemen to recover and grow.”
During his meetings, Grundberg expressed his firm commitment to inclusion as a necessity for sustaining peace, noting that Yemen has a rich history of political and social diversity and that a sustainable solution there is one that reflects the interests of diverse and broad segments of society.
