Afghan forces kill an al-Qaeda leader and accuse the Taliban of harboring him

The Afghan Intelligence Agency said that the security forces killed a prominent leader of the terrorist al-Qaeda terrorist organization in southern Afghanistan, and accused the Taliban terrorist movement of harboring him.
The Taliban agreed to cut ties with the extremist groups, including the al-Qaeda, according to an agreement with the United States signed in February.
The Afghan National Security Directorate said in a statement that it killed the leader of al-Qaeda during an operation in the Afghan province of Farah, where the Taliban gave him a safe haven and protection.
In response to a request for comment, the Taliban said it was investigating the matter.
