Taliban’s deputy shadow governor dies of critical wounds in Herat
The deputy shadow governor of the Taliban group for western Afghan Herat province Manan Lewanay has died of critical wounds he sustained during the operations of the Afghan police forces.
The deputy shadow governor of the Taliban group for western Afghan Herat province Manan Lewanay has died of critical wounds he sustained during the operations of the Afghan police forces.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Lewanay died of his wounds earlier today, days after he was critically wounded during operations of the police forces.
The statement further added that Lewanay was wounded in Rezak area of Obe district during the operations few days earlier.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban militants have not commented regarding the report so far.
Herat is among the relatively calm provinces in West of Afghanistan but the security situation in some remote districts of the province has deteriorated during the recent years.
The Taliban militants often conduct terrorist related activiies against the government and security forces in this province.
