A group of armed militants have launched a coordinated attack on the education directorate in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar province, Afghanistan.
The governor’s office confirmed that a group of insurgents have launched an attack on urban education directorate in the 5th police district of the city and a compound near the directorate has been cleared while operations are underway in the other sector of the directorate which may take time as operations are carefully being conducted to prevent civilian casualties.
The source further added that two dead bodies have been seen in the area and five wounded people including a child have been shifted to hospital for treatment.
This comes as at least ten people were killed and four others sustained injuries in a suicide attack in Jalalabad city on Tuesday morning.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the incident took place at around 10am local time on Tuesday in the vicinity of the 6th police district of the city.
The statement further added that the attack left at least eight civilians and two security personnel dead while two security personnel and two civilians sustained injuries.
