The fourth edition of a Quran competition for Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) is planned to be held in the holy month of Ramadan.

According to Qaaf news agency, it would be among the major Quranic activities of the Popular Mobilization Units, also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, during the holy month.

The main objective of the competition, as stressed by the Quran Section affiliated to the Religious Guidance Office of the committee, is to get the Iraqi forces more acquainted with the Quran and encourage them to strengthen their relation with the Divine Book.

Al-Ghadir satellite network will broadcast the Quranic event and also cooperate in holding the competition.

This was decided in a recent meeting of Abu Ahmad Baghdadi, head of the public relations office of Hashd al-Shaab’s Quran office with Abu Ali Sa’idi, director of the network.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
