A suicide attack near a base of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), or Hashd al-Shaabi, in Kirkuk governorate left no casualties.
A source in the governorate’s police department said a suicide bomber detonated his explosive vest in the area on Sunday morning, al-Sumaria news reported.
The source added that no casualties have been reported but the attack caused some material damage.
Security forces have arrived in the site of the attack, putting in place strict security measures, the source went on to say.
Kirkuk governorate, north of Iraq, is a scene of frequent terrorist attacks targeting security and armed forces as well as civilians.
While there has been no claim of responsibility for this morning’s incident, the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group is mostly behind such suicide attacks.
Hashd al-Shaabi forces played a great role in defeating Daesh and putting an end to the terror group’s self-proclaimed caliphate in the Arab country and neighboring Syria.
