Sources revealed that the jailed Bahraini human rights defender Ebtisam Al-Saegh is continually being harassed and abused by the authorities at the Isa Town Detention Centre.
According to the new revelations, the activist, who was banned from contact with the outside world for a week, was also denied access to essential cleaning materials and prevented from displaying photographs of her children. Moreover, she was forced to endure long delays in the delivery of clean clothes.
The measures are supposedly a response to a family visit during which Al-Saegh hugged and kissed her husband and son. The activist was accused of breaking the rules and glass partitions were erected to prevent inmates from having any kind of physical contact with visiting family members.
Al-Saegh confirmed that she and six other political detainees are continuing to refuse family visits until the partitions are removed.
