Fierce clashes broke out since early morning in the stretching desert east of Palmyra as the Syrian troops began a massive offensive aimed at expelling ISIS terrorists from the gas-rich town of Arak.
Syrian forces managed to take over several hilltops overlooking Arak as a prelude to the full ground invasion.
Meanwhile, ISIS reinforcements were hindered as the Russian fighter jets targeted the supply route linking Arak to the group’s bastion of al-Sukhnah.
In the meantime, the Syrian Army is gearing up for another major assault against ISIS in the Aleppo-Hama axis in order to completely secure the supply route to the northern city of Aleppo.
