Senior United Nations officials, including the Organization’s top humanitarian official as well as the head of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have expressed “horror” at yesterday’s attack on people evacuating from the besieged Syrian towns of Foah and Kefraya and underlined that civilians must be protected from any harm.

In a statement today, the UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, Stephen O’Brien, strongly condemned the violent act and reminded all parties to the conflict of their obligations under international law which expressly prohibits any harm on civilians.
Shia Rights Watch International Organization said in a statement that with a painfulheart theorganization has received news of the targeting of the displaced people of Kufriya and Al-Fau’a fleeing the terrorists’ oppression and siege, expressing their strong condemnation of this brutal act which revealed the moral degenerationof those terrorists.
The statement also called on the UN Security Council to condemn the crime andprosecute those responsible for it.
In the same pretext, Adam Center for Defending the Rights and Freedom said in a statement that the center condemns the “criminal assault” on civilians in Al-Rashidin district of Aleppo, northern Syria, which killed dozens of people, most of them children and women.
The statement added that this terrorist act represents the highest degree of corruption and criminalityagainst humanity as it targeted a convoy carrying a group of unarmed civilians, the vast majority ofwhom are innocent women and children who are not involved in the conflict in Syria, all of their guilt isthat they are Syrian citizens of a certain sect.
