At least 27 were martyred and 35 injured in a suicide attack on a Shia mosque in Afghanistan’s capital, local media cited Kabul police as saying.

The blast targeted Shias who were marking pilgrimage of Arbaeen, the fortieth day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein in the holy land of Karbala. Meanwhile no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Early reports indicate that a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device during a ceremony at the Baqir-ul-Olum mosque in the district known as PD6.
