The Global Nonviolence Organization (Muslim Free) has called on the international community to take practical steps to address rising anti-Muslim hatred, marking the International Day to Combat Islamophobia observed annually on March 15.
In a statement issued on the occasion, the organization said the growing hostility toward Muslims has become an increasing challenge to social cohesion in many countries. It warned that Islamophobia is not limited to ideological bias but can manifest in discriminatory practices, violations, and acts targeting Muslim communities in different parts of the world.
The organization urged stronger international efforts to counter hate speech and incitement, calling for the adoption of legislation aimed at protecting human dignity and promoting peaceful coexistence among diverse societies.
The statement also addressed ongoing political and military developments in the region, expressing concern about escalating tensions and conflicts. It warned against the use of religious rhetoric or sectarian identities to intensify political disputes, noting that civilians often bear the brunt of prolonged wars and confrontations.
The organization stressed the importance of separating political disagreements from religious beliefs and cautioned against exploiting religion to justify violence or conflict. It also called for the implementation of international measures aimed at combating hatred and discrimination, as well as ensuring protection for Muslim minorities from discriminatory practices.
Concluding its statement, the organization emphasized the need to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy in resolving international conflicts. It also highlighted the role of education and media in promoting tolerance and coexistence, describing efforts to counter Islamophobia as part of broader initiatives to uphold human dignity and strengthen the values of peace and nonviolence in societies.
