Madison Islamic Center opens new facility after 30 years of service

The Madison Islamic Center in Wisconsin has officially opened its new facility, marking a major milestone after 30 years of serving the local Muslim community. Established in 1994, the center—formally known as the Madinah Community Center—moved into a larger, upgraded space in June 2024 to meet the needs of its growing congregation.

The new building includes expanded prayer halls for men and women, classrooms, a gym, an events hall, and a fully equipped kitchen. Imam Haji Jallow said the old space could no longer accommodate Friday prayers or parking demands.

Center President Muhammad Asadullah noted the project faced delays due to high land costs and pandemic-related inflation. However, 90% of the funding came from community donations, especially during Ramadan.

The expansion has already boosted programs, including Quran classes for over 75 children—more than double the previous enrollment—cementing the center’s role in Madison’s religious and social life.
