Spiritual atmosphere of Arafa in Mount Arafat as pilgrims recite Arafat Prayer
Shiites, together with other pilgrims, went to the land of Arafat on the day of Arafa, and while performing Hajj, they chanted the prayer of Arafa in the desert of Arafat.
Hajj rituals continued with pilgrims of Baitullah Al-Haram staying in the desert of Arafat on the day of Arafa.
The day of Arafa coincides with the ninth day of Dhul Hajjah, and marks the second day of the Hajj journey. It is one of the most virtuous days and a golden opportunity to benefit from God’s blessings. On this day, pilgrims of Hajj left Mecca to converge at the desert of Arafat in order to engage in prayers and supplications with their lord. After the Zohr and Asr Prayers, they recited the Arafa prayer by the side of Mount Jabal al-Rahma. Then they moved towards the land of Mashar al-Haram and engaged in other rituals of Hajj.
The ninth day of the month of Dhul Hajjah has been called the day of Arafa, the day of knowing God and knowing oneself, the day of prayer and supplication to the Lord of the worlds; Because on this day, the gates of God’s mercy are open to all servants, especially sinners. On this day, every sinner in despair takes refuge with God in hopes of receiving his attention and mercy.
The land of Arafat is the land upon which the Infallibles, peace be upon them, walked, especially the Master of the Martyrs who came to Arafat with special attention to the Divine Existence and recited the Prayer of Arafa, illustrating the way and spirit of worship and servitude to people until the Day of Resurrection.
The day of Arafa has been given special attention in many hadiths and Quranic verses from many aspects. Several rituals have been recommended to honour this day, one of which is staying in Arafat dessert. This is considered as one of the main ritualistic pillars of Hajj, meaning that if someone performs all the rituals of Hajj al-Tamattu, but does not observe the Wuquf (Staying) of Arafat, his Hajj is invalid. For this reason, from the viewpoint of Sharia, the Wuquf in Arafat and observing the day of Arafa are of great importance.
It is mentioned in a narration that Adam and Eve, after descending from heaven and coming to earth, found each other in this land after 40 years of repentance, wonder and crying, and for this reason, this area is called “Arafat” and this day is “Arafa”.
Wuquf in Arafat was observed by a large number of pilgrims as the temperature in the desert of Arafat reached more than 45 degrees.
