Al-Abbas Holy Shrine organizes Quran Competition Children from five African countries
Children and teenagers from five African countries took part in a Quran competition organized by Al-Abbas Holy Shrine.
The event was attended by some 150 contenders from Mauritania, Mali, Senegal, Niger and Tanzania, according to Al-Kafeel website.
The Holy Shrine’s African Studies Center held the Quranic event, which aimed at encouraging children and teenagers to memorize short Surahs (chapters) of the Holy Book, according to the head of the center, Sheikh Saad Sattar al-Shimri.
“Quran experts from the Al-Abbas Shrine Holy Quran Institute formed the panel of judges,” said al-Shimri.
Winners were awarded cash prizes and other prizes at the end of the competition.
The African Studies Center organizes various Quranic, religious, ideological and cultural programs for African countries.
