Multilingual Translators Support Arbaeen Pilgrims at Imam Ali Holy Shrine

The Foreign Affairs Unit of the Public Relations Department at the Imam Ali Holy Shrine continues providing translation and field assistance services for pilgrims participating in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), helping facilitate communication with visitors from different countries and supporting organizational efforts during the large-scale pilgrimage season.
Unit Director Muhannad Al-Jamali said the team’s work is carried out through two main areas. The first focuses on field services, where specialized translators are assigned to support the shrine’s service departments and lost-and-found units, providing direct interpretation assistance and helping foreign pilgrims overcome language barriers.
He explained that the translation team includes staff proficient in several languages. One translator specializes in Turkish, Azerbaijani and Persian, while another speaks English and Urdu, allowing the unit to assist a wide range of international visitors arriving in Najaf.
The second area involves written translation services, including translating books, official correspondence exchanged between departments of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, particularly documents related to the operations room for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, as well as translating guidance signs, brochures and informational materials prepared for visitors.
Al-Jamali added that the translation unit works in coordination with the lost-and-found department to ensure translators are present at field locations and available to assist pilgrims who require guidance, information or help reconnecting with their families and companions.
These efforts are part of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine’s preparations to welcome pilgrims from around the world and provide services that accommodate the linguistic diversity of visitors arriving at the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) before continuing their journey toward Karbala to commemorate the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
