Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Commemorates Ashura Morning in Qom by Walking Barefoot, Without Cloak

The senior religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, commemorated the morning of Ashura 1448 AH in the holy city of Qom by walking barefoot and without a cloak, in an annual tradition expressing grief and sympathy over the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, his family, and his companions.
The ceremony was attended by a group of scholars, seminary figures, cultural and social personalities, as well as Husseini mourners who accompanied Grand Ayatollah Shirazi on this occasion. Participants renewed their condolences to Imam al-Mahdi, may Allah hasten his noble reappearance, on the tragedy of Karbala.
This tradition is among the rituals that Grand Ayatollah Shirazi observes every Ashura morning in the holy city of Qom, as an expression of sorrow over the great tragedy that befell Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, his family, and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.
