Red Carpets Laid Between Two Holy Shrines in Preparation for Tatbir Mourning, Tuwairij Run

The area between the two holy shrines in the center of the holy city of Karbala has been covered with red carpets as part of preparations for the ceremonies of the 10th of Muharram. The arrangements come ahead of the Tatbir mourning procession on the morning of Ashura and the Tuwairij Run after the blessed Dhuhr and Asr prayers.

The carpeting of the area between the two holy shrines is part of ongoing preparations to receive the visitors and mourning processions commemorating Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, with the Tatbir mourning procession and the eternal Tuwairij Run among the most prominent rituals.

Each year, more than 10,000 square meters of carpet are laid in the area, along with an equal area of transparent nylon sheeting underneath. This is intended to ensure the smooth movement of mourning processions and prevent slipping or instability among visitors, especially given the large numbers taking part in the Tuwairij Run.

The holy Hussaini and Abbasi shrines have announced that all necessary requirements have been secured for the ceremonies of the 10th of Muharram, including services for mourners and the arrangements needed to commemorate this great tragedy.
