Manuscript Quran Attributed to Imam Ali Preserved at Imam Hussein Mosque in Cairo
——————————–
A rare handwritten Quran manuscript attributed to Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) is preserved inside the Imam Hussein Mosque, one of the most prominent religious and historical sites in the Egyptian capital.

According to historical descriptions, the manuscript is written in early Kufic script on parchment, without diacritical marks or vowelization. These characteristics are consistent with writing styles used in the first century of Islam, before the later development of dots and pronunciation guides in Arabic script.

Researchers in Islamic heritage note that manuscripts of this type represent some of the earliest forms of Quranic transcription, offering insight into how the text was recorded and preserved in the early Islamic period. The attribution of the manuscript to Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is linked to his historical role in recording and safeguarding the Quran, although such attributions are generally regarded by scholars as traditional rather than definitively proven.

The manuscript is considered part of Egypt’s Islamic heritage collections and is kept with special care within the Mosque complex. It is not permanently on public display but may be shown during specific religious occasions or curated exhibitions.
