The Imam Al-Shirazi Global Center in Canada, in collaboration with the Islamic Center for Iranians, marked the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) and held ceremonies for the second night of Laylat al-Qadr, drawing a large gathering of the local Shia community.
The event began before Maghrib with the recitation of verses from the Qur’an, followed by congregational prayers and a communal Iftar, fostering an atmosphere of solidarity and compassion among attendees.
Following the meal, Sheikh Saleh Sibouyeh, director of the center, delivered a lecture highlighting the significance of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in Islamic thought, reflecting on his life, moral lessons, and enduring contributions to justice and virtue. He also emphasized the spiritual importance of Laylat al-Qadr as a time for closeness to God and the strengthening of faith.
The ceremony included mourning sessions remembering the sacrifices and injustices faced by Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and concluded with the recitation of the Dua al-Jawshan al-Kabir, during which participants prayed for mercy, forgiveness, and drew inspiration from the patience and faith exemplified in the Imam’s life.
Local journalists from Le Devoir, a French-language newspaper in Quebec, conducted interviews with Sheikh Sibouyeh, covering the significance of Ramadan and Laylat al-Qadr, while documenting the event through photographs, videos, and press reports.
The Imam Al-Shirazi Global Center continues to organize religious, cultural, and social programs aimed at fostering spiritual values and strengthening unity within the Muslim community across Canada.
