The 8th International Arabic Book Fair kicked off in Istanbul on Saturday, with around 150,000 titles, amid the dominance of developments in the Gaza Strip over the fair’s events. This year’s edition came under the slogan “Arabic Unites Us.”

The fair is organized by the International Association of Arabic Book Publishers in Turkey, in cooperation with the Turkish Publishers Union, the Turkish Publishers Association, with the support of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, the Turkish Ministry of Culture, and under the media sponsorship of Anadolu Agency.

According to the organizers, more than 250 publishing houses representing 30 countries around the world are participating in the fair to showcase more than 150,000 titles. The fair will run for 9 days between December 9-17, 2023.

The fair will feature around 100 diverse cultural and artistic events, in addition to intellectual seminars, book signing ceremonies, and poetry evenings.

During the opening session, which began with a recitation of the Quran, the opening speeches focused on the developments in Gaza and the rights of the Palestinians.
