International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women: Amnesty International calls for support for Afghan women

Amnesty International has launched a campaign to support Afghan women and girls on the occasion of November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

This campaign started on Saturday under the title “Speak for Afghan women” and will continue for 16 days.

Amnesty International has asked people to share their messages of solidarity to support women and girls in Afghanistan.

This international occasion is commemorated while women in Afghanistan are subjected to an increase in gender-based violence after the Taliban regained control.

According to reports of human rights organizations, the Taliban have issued more than 50 restrictive decrees against Afghan women and girls in the last two years, which clearly highlight the systematic discrimination against Afghan women.

The United Nations says that violence against women and girls remains one of the most common and pervasive human rights violations in the world.

According to this organization, it is estimated that 736 million women, approximately one in three women, have been subjected to physical or sexual violence at least once in their life by their partner or another person or both.
