The death toll from heavy rains and floods in Somalia has climbed to 96, the National Disaster Management Agency of the African nation announced Thursday, adding that over 2 million people have been affected.
The heavy rainfall in Somalia is expected to impact up to 1.5 million hectares (3.7 million acres) of farmland, local authorities have confirmed.
The Somali Government has called on the local community and aid agencies to scale up their support in helping people affected by the El Nino-induced floods amid growing fears for a worsening crisis.
