Calgary-based Husseini Cultural Association continues its educational programs to promote coexistence

Under the slogan of “Promoting Respect for Religious Diversity and Acceptance of Others,” the Hussaini Cultural Association in Calgary, Canada, continues to hold its programs and seminars in an effort to open up to the Canadian community at human and social levels.

Officials of the association told Shia Waves Agency: “Since 1982, the association has set important goals and special programs for opening up to the Canadian community, regardless of its denominations and religions, at a time when Canada is witnessing an increase in anti-Muslim rhetoric.”

They explained that “the association, through its programs, works to promote the true Islamic principles and values, based on the teachings of the Holy Prophet and his pure family, peace be upon them, in order to introduce these values to the world.”

They pointed out that “understanding the true image of Islam, not the distorted form presented by terrorists, is very important, especially at this critical time when the world in general and Canada in particular are witnessing an increase in Islamophobia and Anti-Muslim hate speech.”

The officials explained that “the true Shia school of thought has always been known to be against violence, tyranny, and inhumanity, and today Shias stand here in Canada to spread the bright image of the original Islam that Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, defended with his bloody.”
