World Health Organization concerned about ban on health campaigns by Taliban

The World Health Organization says the risk of polio outbreaks increases as the Taliban ban health campaigns in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan.

This international organization warns that, as door-to-door medical campaigns have been limited in Kandahar, children in this province are facing a significant risk of widespread outbreak of dangerous diseases.

WHO has warned that, due to the high movement of population between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the withdrawal of health campaigns in Afghanistan will reduce the effectiveness of the disease control program in Pakistan as well.

According to the statistics of the World Health Organization, 32 positive cases of polio have been registered in Afghanistan in 2023.
