France’s ex-PM desires laws to increase regulation of French Muslims

This week The New Arab reported how the former French prime-minister Edouard Philippe—currently a mayor of the city Le Havre and presidential rival of Macron—recently expressed ideas relating to an increase of authority of the state in regulating the religious life of Muslims.

To achieve this, he proposes a possible expansion of France’s 1905 which guarantees and enshrines the principle of secularism.

According to certain experts such policies could only further escalate the already enormous disenfranchisement of Muslims in France who are already in this day and age singled out within the selective implementation of the principles of secularism.
