Local officials confirmed that a mosque in the Nigerian city of Zaria had collapsed on Friday during prayers, killing at least seven people.
They added that hundreds of worshippers were in the building at the time of prayer.
An investigation is under way to identify the cause of the collapse. The emir of the area told local media a crack had been discovered in one of the walls on Thursday.
According to reports, the mosque is thought to be more than a century old an that the African country has a long history of buildings collapsing.
