Muharram 21st marks death anniversary of great Shia jurist and theologian Allameh Helli

Muharram 21st marks the death anniversary of Jamal al-Din Abu Mansour, Hasan bin Yusuf bin Ali bin Motahar al-Helli, nicknamed Allama al-Helli, one of the most prominent Shia jurists and theologians of the 8th Hijri century.


Allama has written more than 120 books in various scientific fields, including jurisprudence, theology, exegesis, logic, principles, and rijāl, some of which are part of teaching and research resources in Shiite seminaries.


Allamah al-Helli has an important role in the development of Shia jurisprudence. It is said that he has explained the theological and ideological foundations of Shiism based on intellectual reasoning.


He was born in the year 648 AH in the city of Hella in Iraq, and he passed away in the same city in 726 AH at the age of 78.

Allamah was buried in one of the courtyards at the Shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali, peace be upon him, in Holy Najaf.
