Taliban imposes new restrictions on girls’ education in Afghanistan
Following the Taliban’s restrictions on girls’ education, sources from a number of provinces now confirm that according to the Taliban’s new order, girls over the age of ten have been denied the right to education.
Also, a number of female teachers in Kabul report that the Taliban group told “tall” girls to stay at home. These sources add that based on this action of the Taliban, girls above the third grade are denied the right to education.
In the latest case, the Deputy Governor of the Taliban in Ghazni has ordered the Department of Education of this province to block rapid education classes for girls in the capital and other cities.
About 2 years have passed since the doors of schools were closed to girls in Afghanistan. However, informed sources have confirmed that the Taliban have decided to permanently close schools to girls in their government.
According to some sources, it is likely that schools and universities will indefinitely remain closed to girls.
Previously, the United Nations and dozens of human rights organizations have repeatedly expressed concern over the ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan and asked the Taliban to reconsider their decision.
However, the Taliban group has disregarded all demands and imposed more restrictions so far.
