Karbala Holy Shrines, area between them covered in red carpet in preparation for Ashura Rituals

The Two Holy Shrines of Imam Hussein and Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas, peace be upon them, and the area between them (Bainul Harmain) have been laid out with red carpet in preparation for the Tenth of Muharram (Ashura).

The Tenth Day of Muharram marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, his family members and loyal companionsb, and it is the day on which the blessed Husseini rituals are performed such as Tatbir and the Annual Twereej Massive Run.

The total area covered in polythene sheets and red carpet was 14,000 m², in addition to cover the entrances with sand in order for the rituals to be performed easily and smoothly and to prevent stampede.
