One day after the demonstrations of Muslims in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, local sources say that two civilians have been killed and 40 others injured as a result of the police intervention.
It is said that more than 100 other protesters have been arrested by the police.
The demonstration started on Friday, May 26, after Friday Prayers by the Muslim community of the city against the destruction of mosques in the newly established city of Shaggar, which was previously known as Urmia’s Special Zone.
The protesters demanded an end to the demolition of mosques in this city.According to the statement of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs of Urmia region, 19 mosques have been illegally destroyed in Shaggar city alone.
The Council has urged the regional government to immediately return to resolving the problem through dialogue.
