WEF anticipates: Technology, economic setbacks to destroy 14 million jobs

Economists warn that over the next five years the global job market will be seriously disrupted by the weakening economy and the accelerated rate of adopting technologies such as artificial intelligence.

The finding comes from the World Economic Forum, which has recently published a report based on surveys of more than 800 companies.

According to WEF, 69 million new jobs are expected to be created by 2027, but 83 million positions will be eliminated, which means a loss of 14 million jobs, equivalent to 2% of current employment.

“The drive to address climate change will create new jobs, while economic challenges such as low growth, high inflation and supply shortages will erode them,” the report adds.

It should be mentioned that experts emphasize that digitalization will create many new job opportunities, but workers will need to update their skills for the modern labor force.
