On World Autism Awareness Day, Imam Hussein Holy Shrine provides services to 700 autistic children
On World Autism Awareness Day, the Al-Sibteen Academy for Autism and Developmental Disorder, in cooperation with the Al-Sibteen International University for Medical Sciences, affiliated to Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, held a ceremony aims at providing full support for this group and to raise awareness in the family and society.
The Director of the Center for Psychiatry and Autism at the Holy Shrine, Dr. Osama Abbas, said in an interview with the official website, “Under the direct guidance of the legal custodian of the Holy Shrine, Sheikh Abd al-Mahdi al-Karbalai, we held a ceremony today on the occasion of World Autism Day to highlight the importance of raising awareness of this issue, and increasing government support for this group, as well as educating families in dealing with their children.”
He explained that “Imam Hussein Holy Shrine has (11) centers for autism which operate with full capacity in all Iraqi provinces and it has (700) autistic children in its custody.”
