Indian newspaper: Muslims venerate Mid-Sha’aban Night, consider it ‘Night of Forgiveness’
The Indian newspaper ‘Rising Kashmir’ said in an article it published on its official website that, “Muslims around the world are gearing up to celebrate Shab-e-Barat, also known as the ‘night of forgiveness’, a significant festival observed on the 14th and 15th night of Sha’aban, the eighth month in the Islamic calendar.
This year, the celebrations will take place from March 7 to 8.” “This festival is marked with great enthusiasm across South Asia, including countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan”, the newspaper added.
The history of Shab-e-Barat or the ‘night of forgiveness’ dates back to the time when the twelfth Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi, may Allah bring forward his honourable reappearance, was born.
“This Night has a unique energy, and people have their own distinct stories about this day. The prayer session is one of the main highlights of the night, with devotees seeking forgiveness and making sincere prayers, the newspaper further said.
It is worth mentioning that Mid-Sha’ban Pilgrimage is one of the massive events that Holy Karbala hosts, when millions of pilgrims flock to this city to visit the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother, Abu al-Fadl al-abbas, paece be upon them.
