A deadly attack which occurred on Saturday, left at least 53 people dead and many others injured in the northwestern Syrian city of Aleppo.
The terrorist attack occurred in the al-Zahraa neighborhood, targeting a crowded market with explosive devices.
According to state media the attack was carried out by ISIL. The Syrian government has condemned the attack as a “heinous crime” and blamed it on “terrorist groups” operating in the area.
ISIL, known for carrying out deadly attacks in Syria and Iraq, has not yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
The attack has sparked widespread condemnation from international leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who stated that “there can be no justification for such acts of terror”.
The incident highlights the ongoing violence and instability in Syria, which has been engulfed in a brutal war for nearly a decade. Despite efforts to end the conflict, violence continues to erupt across the country, with civilians often caught in the crossfire.
