Shia demands in India to include biography of Imam Hussein in school curricula

The top Shia representing body in India has addressed the Indian authorities to include the battle of Karbala and the martyrdom of the Grandson of the Noble Prophet, Imam Hussein, peace be upon him within the school curricula.

The Indian TV channel ‘Republic World’ said in a report, “the ‘All India Shia Personal Law Board’ (AISPLB) has sent a letter to the Federal Minister of Education (Dharmendra Pradhan) requesting the inclusion of the name of Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon them both) in the government curricula.”

The Board attached a copy of the battle of Karbala 1400, on which Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, fought the army of Yazid (the tyrant) to save humanity. The report quoted the Board as saying in its letter text: “followers of other religions in India, have continued to commemorate the memory of Imam Hussein with great sincerity.”

The letter, addressed to the Federal Minister of Education, mentioned, “The school curriculum in India includes biographies of many revolutionary leaders for freedom, so we ask that the biography of Imam Hussein, who sacrificed his life for the sake of all humanity 1,400 years ago, be included.”
