Sudanese body calls for pressure on the authorities to stop violence against protesters

On Monday, a Sudanese human rights body called on the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the international community to put pressure on the Sudanese authorities to stop the violence accompanying the demonstrations and stop arbitrary arrests.
This came when the Emergency Lawyers Board (non-governmental) met with the independent expert of the United Nations human rights in Sudan Adama Dieng, in Khartoum, according to a statement from the body seen by Anatolia.
The statement indicated that a delegation of emergency lawyers briefed the UN expert, Adama Deng, on the violations of repression, violence and the use of all kinds of weapons, to which citizens have been exposed by the ruling authority in their peaceful mass movement since last October 25.
He added: “The emergency lawyer called, through the UN expert, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the international community to put pressure on the ruling authority to stop the violence accompanying the demonstrations, stop arbitrary arrests, bring those arrested to urgent trials, or release them immediately.”
According to the (non-governmental) Sudan Doctors Committee, 82 protesters have been killed since the demonstrations began, by what it calls “the forces of the coup d’etat.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior accused protesters of violence against its members and sabotaging public and private property, and held what it called a “third party” responsible for the deaths, while the authorities announced the opening of investigations.
