One Million Children Could Die Due to Malnutrition in Afghanistan: UNICEF
Once again, the United Nations Children’s Fund has warned of the likely death of one million due to acute malnutrition in Afghanistan.
In a tweet, the Children’s Fund expressed its deep concern over the plight of children in the country.
“If no immediate action is taken, one million children will die from severe malnutrition,” UNICEF said.
Despite the increasing numbers of malnourished children, the Afghan Ministry of Health said there are no care centers to treat these cases.
The ministry revealed that the number of children suffering from malnutrition is about 4.4. million, indicating that to overcome malnutrition in Afghanistan, some measures have been implemented to strengthen the health sector as well as to mobilize international aid to support the Afghan health sector.
