The Council on American-Islamic Relations welcomes the $124,000 fine for an anti-Islam activist

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has welcomed the confirmation of a Florida judge ruling that Laura Loomer, a supporter of the far-right anti-Islam conspiracy theory, and her company, Illoominate Media, will be fined nearly $124,000 in favor of CAIR.
The fine represents attorneys’ fees and costs arising from a lawsuit filed by Laura alleging that CARE colluded with Twitter to ban her account.
On Thursday, Judge Rodolfo A. Ruiz determined that Laura Loomer owed $123,762 to CAIR and its Florida team, plus $662 in costs.
CAIR’s attorney (Justin Sadosky) said in a statement that Laura Loomer filed this suit in an effort to force CAIR to use its valuable resources in this case rather than defending the civil rights of Muslims and other Americans.
“Laura has now been instructed twice to pay (CAIR) for the damage she has caused, and we look forward to taking her money and using it to defend our nation’s most cherished constitutional rights,” the statement added.
In 2019, Laura Loomer filed a lawsuit in Florida with a court accusing Kerr of conspiring with the Twitter platform to shut down her official account on the site, which was not supported by the court, and then (CAIR) officials decided to file a lawsuit against her, which was ruled in its favour.
According to the US network (NBC), Twitter closed Laura’s account after she racistly attacked Muslim Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in a tweet in which she said that she was anti-Jewish and belongs to a religion that criminalizes homosexuality and despise women and forces them to wear the hijab.
This is not the first time that Loomer has adopted an anti-Muslim rhetoric, as according to the (Fox) news site, she describes herself as a proud supporter of Islamophobia.
