A group of political and human rights activists in Toronto, the economic capital of Canada, shed light on the passage of 6 years to the execution of Ayatollah Sheikh Nimr Al-Nimr, may Allah bless his soul.
Bahraini activist Khaled Al-Sahwan said in a speech during the event, “Today we commemorate the sixth anniversary of the execution of the martyr Ayatollah Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr, who spoke out with his words and voice to defend the rights of the oppressed peoples in the Gulf, transcending all borders,” noting that “we stand today and we do not forget that pain that still boils in our chests.”
For her part, human rights activist Yusr Al-Bahrani from Bahrain said during the vigil, “Today we commemorate the sixth anniversary of the execution of Sheikh Nimr Al-Nimr, who demanded democracy and defended peace and human rights. This comes after he spent years in solitary confinement for no reason other than his defense of peace and human rights.”
“To this day, his body is hidden, which means that the Saudi authorities bear the responsibility for this act as a crime against humanity,” the activist added, stressing “the need to apply justice and release all human rights defenders who are inside Saudi prisons.”
