The UN Security Council adopts resolution facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan


The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution proposed by the United States that would facilitate humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan for a period of one year, in light of the great economic difficulties that this country is experiencing.
The resolution provides for “allowing the payment of funds and financial assets such as the provision of goods and services necessary to meet the basic human needs in Afghanistan.”
He added, that the decision was taken without the matter violating the sanctions imposed on entities linked to the terrorist Taliban.
For his part, the deputy Russian representative to the organization said, “Russia expects the UN Security Council resolution to help increase humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.”
In turn, the Chinese delegate to the Security Council noted that “Beijing demands the release of Afghan assets held abroad as soon as possible.”
