WHO: Malnutrition threatens the lives of one million Afghan children

The World Health Organization has warned that malnutrition threatens the lives of nearly one million Afghan children.
WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris said about 3.2 million children are expected to suffer from acute malnutrition in Afghanistan by the end of this year, one million of whom are at risk of dying.
Describing the situation in Afghanistan, she added, “It is an uphill battle, famine is sweeping the country. The world must not abandon Afghanistan and cannot bear (the consequences) of that.”
A few days ago, the United Nations provided the salaries of about 23,500 health sector employees in Afghanistan, during the past month, at a value of 8 million dollars, ignoring the Ministry of Health of the Taliban terrorist movement.
Previously, the United Nations Development Program was cooperating with the Global Fund working in health aid to revive a program that was funded by the World Bank, before stopping aid since the Taliban movement came to power in mid-August.
The United Nations is trying to deliver humanitarian aid to millions of Afghans in order to avoid the collapse of the economy, health and education services in the country.
The international community has not yet recognized the current Afghan government, which was formed by the Taliban movement after it came to power on August 15th.
