Iraq: 25,000 terrorists have been sentenced to death

Today, the Iraqi Ministry of Justice announced that the number of convicted terrorists in its prisons is more than 50,000, noting that half of them are sentenced to death.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Laibi said in a statement to the official agency, which was followed by Shia Waves, that “the number of convicted terrorists we have is more than 50,000 prisoners, and half of them are sentenced to death.”
Laibi added, “The death sentences were not carried out because they did not acquire a peremptory degree, or a republican decree to execute them wasn’t issued.”
He continued, “Any ruling that acquires a peremptory degree and a republican decree is implemented, but most of the times this doesn’t happen due to lack of investigative papers and the case remains pending.”
