The Martyrs Foundation on Tuesday opened a new mass grave in the Sheikhiya area of the Samawah desert in southern Iraq.

“The cemetery includes 70 women and children who were executed,” the statement said, noting that “the ages of children ranged from one to two years and women up to 40 years.”

The statement added that “there are two graves near the area that will open in the event of obtaining legal approvals.”

In April, local authorities in Muthanna province announced the discovery of a mass grave for people of the former regime in the Samawah desert.
