Iranian procession arrives in Khuzestan on its way to Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen
A group of Iranian citizens are making their way towards the holy city of Karbala on foot to commemorate the largest religious gathering in the world – Arbaeen.
According to sources, the Ansar al-Hussain Procession has reached Khuzestan, Iran’s southwestern province which borders Iraq, 42 days after starting their journey from the holy city of Mashhad.
These pilgrims walk more than 2000 km and for dozens of days to reach the holy city of Karbala to commemorate the fortieth day following the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, also known as Arbaeen.
Residents of different cities say it is an honor to provide the pilgrims with food, drink and accommodation.
