Small town in Pakistan held more than 200 mourning processions on Ashura
The Pakistani newspaper, Urdu Point, reported that one of the small towns in the country held more than 200 mourning processions in honor of Imam Hussein on Ashura, amid strict security measures.
The newspaper said in a special report, that “more than 200 mourning processions were held from various local Imam Barghas in Parachinar town of Kurram district,” adding that “strict security measures were taken by the town police, while local volunteers also worked to ensure that a peaceful event was held on the occasion.”
The report continued, “An atmosphere of religious devotion and enthusiasm covered the mourners’ participation in these ceremonies, as scholars and clerics gave lectures in which they shed light on the philosophy of Karbala and the unprecedented sacrifices made by the Imam, peace be upon him, and his companions under the scorching heat of Karbala as an example to be emulated for all humanity.”
The Pakistani newspaper pointed out that “the residents of the town had set up various service tents to distribute free drinks such as tea, milk and water bottles to the crowds of mourners and visitors.”
