India bans mourning processions commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in Maharashtra


The government of the Indian state of Maharashtra has banned the holding of mourning processions on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, his companions and family, peace be upon them, on Ashura.
According to the Indian Shabestan news agency, the authorities of the Maharashtra state government prevented the holding of mourning processions for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the state, adding that the authorities directed the citizens to perform mourning ceremonies in Muharram and without any gathering or procession.
The agency confirmed that this is the second year in a row that no mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, were held in Maharashtra under the pretext of the spread of the Coronavirus.
